4.8.9 beta (23JUL2026)

FIXED: Terrain rendering sometimes did not use the high-detail layer when zoomed-in

4.8.6 beta (09JUL2026)

FIXED: A crash would occur on startup of EasyVFR4 when the previous session had a route open that was LOCALFLIGHT only and was not yet confirmed

4.8.5 beta (22JUN2026)

FIXED: Airspaces where sometimes listed twice in on the Info Card->Airspaces tab

FIXED: NOTAM description lines on the map that ended with "AMSL" got abbreviated as "AM".

4.8.4 beta (15JUN2026)

IMPROVED: The Data download now takes place in the order as listed on the Status Card
IMPROVED: Performance map rendering when traveling at high speed and zoomed-in far.
IMPROVED: various time related fields on the route card are displayed with a bit more spacing to increase readability.

FIXED: With option menu->preferences->Rubber Band by Tap & hold enabled sometimes a release after the rubberbanding did not trigger the Confirm or Cancel changes in the route bubble.
FIXED: When zooming in using the mouse wheel then when fully zoomed in a zoom out with the mouse did not work, only the on-screen zooming still worked after which the mousewheel scroll worked again

4.7.10 beta (26MAR2026)

IMPROVED: Performance of NOTAM processing after downloading

IMPROVED: EasyVFR4 now recognizes when the user taps on the outline of a NOTAM on the map (provided it is on the inside of the notam area). In that case it will directly show the NOTAM content on the InfoCard

IMPROVED: text editing fields (like filenames in file-save dialogs etc) now auto-scroll when typing out of the view window, and allow re-positioning of the cursor by tapping on the desired location.

NEW: Autopilot turn anticipation added 10 additional seconds to the time anticipated to turn to the next waypoint. This is now user-configurable using menu->system->GPS and Autopilot settings, option "Turn anticipation extra time"

NEW: menu->preferences->Alarms and Warnings now has option "Leg Change Coming Up Popup" that allows the user to suppress the banner that comes up when a leg change is upcoming

NEW: Android and windows users can now enable Direct Keyboard Input Mode using menu->System->Direct Keyboard Input. This option does not use a modal popup window to enter text. Android users with custom on-screen keyboards might not be able to use this feature.

FIXED: Version 4.7.8 introduced a bug that caused notam downloads to permanently fail, only solution was uninstall and reinstall

4.7.8 beta (02MAR2026)

NEW: Flightplan takeoff time and the timeframe that is used by the map to represent notams and AUP is now changed to a full calender interface. The MapLayers menu now is the place to override the default timespan set by EasyVFR4

IMPROVED: Dynon and MGL data exchanges now display percentage completed when they are downloading the EFB catalogue

IMPROVED: The new Notepad system is simplified by removing the lefthand/righthand/full screen option, from now on it is always fullscreen.

IMPROVED: The new Notepad system is simplified by removing the option to select lines, grid or no background. From now on it is always grid.

FIXED: Dynon DataExchange was broken in 5.7.6, it didn't offer the option to select a destination drive.

FIXED: RouteCard, NOTAM tab, sorting "Newest first" did in fact put the newest at the bottom

FIXED: In landscape mode, with the route window docked on the left side, enabling the edit mode of the instruments ribbon this edit screen could sometimes not be closed because the positioning prevented the closing X. In these cases EasyVFR4 will now automatically close the route window to create enough space.

FIXED: When tap&hold on the VPV trackline sometimes the release of the tap was not handled so planned altitude was not changed

FIXED: Numeric-only data entry (for example planned altitude for a leg in the route window) worked weird on iPadOS26.x

A few small last-minute improvements slipped into this release :

- Airspaces where sometimes listed twice in on the Info Card->Airspaces tab

- NOTAM description lines on the map that ended with "AMSL" got abbreviated as "AM".

- The Data download now takes place in the order as listed on the StatusCard
- Improved performance map rendering when traveling at high speed and zoomed-in far.
-With option menu->preferences->Rubber Band by Tap & hold enabled sometimes a release after the rubberbanding did not trigger the Confirm or Cancel changes in the route bubble.
- various time related fields on the route card are displayed with a bit more spacing to increase readability.
- When zooming in using the mouse wheel then when fully zoomed in a zoom out with the mouse did not work, only the on-screen zooming still worked after which the mousewheel scroll worked again

From the previous beta:

We are having fun developing new features and improving EasyVFR4 as preparation for the upcoming flying season! in this version:a

New Calendar control to specify planned takeoff Date Time and set the Map Timeframe for which to show NOTAMs and active airspaces.

1470

Remote radio tuning Becker AR620X series radios

Re-worked the entire flight plans saving and loading. Loading flight plans offer various ways of sorting the listing (date of last usage, favorite and filename), saving flight plans allow to specify keywords that then can be used as filter.
1468

An entirely new feature to create and maintain notes within EasyVFR4!

A few small last-minute improvements slipped into this release :

Dear aviators,

We planned to release the last beta 4.7.10 to the appstore a few weeks ago, but decided to investigate first why on on some systems the downloading of plates causes a system freeze. To be honest we did not find the actual cause yet, so we decided to switch from automatic download of all plates and pdf documents to a manual download version when an airfield is queried via the infocard. This is a often asked wish anyhow, so I guess it is a nice addition.

NEW: Flightplan takeoff time and the timeframe that is used by the map to represent notams and AUP is now changed to a full calender interface. The MapLayers menu now is the place to override the default timespan set by EasyVFR4

IMPROVED: The new Notepad system is simplified by removing the lefthand/righthand/full screen option, from now on it is always fullscreen.

FIXED: Dynon DataExchange was broken in 5.7.6, it didn't offer the option to select a destination drive.

FIXED: RouteCard, NOTAM tab, sorting "Newest first" did in fact put the newest at the bottom

In addition to previous betas 4.6.12-4.6.14 this version fixes a newly introduced problem where viewing flightplan documentations and other docs on iOS could only ended by terminating EasyVFR4 manually

Dear aviators,

At request by many of you we implemented Bluetooth LE (Bluetooth Low Energy) support in EasyVFR4, which makes it possible to connect a new range of devices to EasyVFR4. Think about the SafeSky AeroTracker as input for GPS and traffic, or use a Bluetooth-to-RS232 adapter to connect an autopilot or tune a radio.

Important: This feature is only available on iOS and Android

Many of you are eagerly waiting for a way to automatically tune your radio from within EasyVFR4, so here is a short step-by-step guide.

First of all you need to obtain an bluetooth-to-RS232 adapter. We used the IRXON BT578 adapter during development and testing, and that works nice for generic connections. However, since many radios have different layouts it is wise to buy a ready-to-use device from for example http://sdlink.de adk-avionics.de or Prodimex (https://prodimex.co.uk/collections/aerospace)

The next step is to enable bluetooth; do menu->system->GPS, Radio and AutoPilot Settings. Scroll down and enable the option .

1455

Scroll further down to the section , here you find a number of well-known radios. But even if your radio is not listed, just try one of the protocols offered as many radios support one or the other protocol. One word of advice, test from top to bottom: the GTR225 format is the most complete including 8.33khz support. The SL40 and SL30 protocols are predecessors.

1456

With Bluetooth LE enabled, EasyVFR4 will now continuously scan for devices in the area. To view the list of nearby discovered devices select the option from the menu.

1458

The left column gives the device name together with the current connection status. The right column allows to select the type of device.

Tap on the button to cycle through the supported device types "AutoPilot", "GPS/Traffic", "Radio" and "undefined". Set the type to "Radio". EasyVFR4 will now try to connect to this BLE device, which becomes apparent by a blue bluetooth icon with a green marker, together with the word "Connected"

1459

Now everything is setup, and EasyVFR4 will offer to tune your radio with a frequency at various places:

Infocard, Airfield tab. A tap on any of the frequency rows.

1460

Infocard, Airspaces overview, tap on the blue frequency or ATC name

1461

Routecard, tap on the blue frequency

1462

Note the keypad symbol top right, this enables a mode to manually enter a frequency:

1463

Now note the clock symbol top right, this gives a list of previously set frequencies so it is easy to switch back:

1464

Another tap on the top right symbol will now toggle back to the default radio card.

When a frequency is tapped, a window is shown to select either the Active or Standby side of the radio (some radios only support Standby)

1465

Select the desired side and tap on the button to actually tune the radio.

The second major update for this release is the introduction of the new Message card. In the past, many users complained about the intrusive popup that was used to signal events like approaching airspaces, lost GPS signal, leg change upcoming etc. This popup is now replaced with a modest slide-in window that is put on top of the moving map so the view of the map is never obscured anymore

1466
