A Quick Story About Why SafeSky Matters
Tim here from the EasyVFR team. I want to share two quick stories that completely changed how I approach traffic awareness in the cockpit.

As someone who started with gliding, I trusted FLARM to be my extra pair of eyes to early see other gliders. When I moved to motor planes, I realized just how much of other traffic I wasn't seeing.

My "aha!" moment came during my first flights with SafeSky integrated into EasyVFR. Suddenly, the sky opened up. I could see other planes, paragliders, and ULM traffic that were previously invisible. It was like having a second set of eyes dedicated to spotting threats.

Two moments burned this into my memory:
- Flying a mountain ridge near Aosta: My SkyEcho 2 was silent - no FLARM, no ADS-B signals received. But SafeSky showed me traffic on the other side of the ridge flying in the opposite direction toward us. This gave me the critical heads-up I needed to stay clear.
- Near the German-Czech border: Last summer, I was unknowingly flying toward a large gaggle of gliders competing in a race. They were too far for my receivers, but EasyVFR, fed by SafeSky’s traffic data over internet, showed over 45 gliders heading my way. Visually, they were just gray dots against the overcast clouds. Knowing that due to the light conditions we would see each other very late—and considering they were in a competition mindset - this could have become really uncomfortable. Thanks to that early warning, I could slow down and increase altitude so they would pass below me.
