Hello

Flying today, I had my Samsung Tab S2 model SM-T713 drop out twice, with the message “ EasyVFR stopped, do I want to restart” the only other thing running was Pilot aware, I’ve had this happen a few times before. Any ideas??

Regards Colin

I have the same hardware and see this both with PilotAware and with Stratux. No such crashes when just working autonomous on internal GPS. EV4 seems less stable when it gets external position data.

Rob has a Stratux to play with now, so hopefully he'll be able to catch these on his development systems.

Thank Rob, will keep a lookout for the answer, I will also try without PILOTAWARE and see what happens. Colin

EV4 twice stopped working after ca 30 min in flight on similar tablet Samsung S2 but model SM-T819. Once during local flight with no other apps active, with mobile data switched on. Once during commercial flight - no apps active, no mobile data active. Not able to reproduce intentionaly.

Hi guys,

Thank you for sharing your experiences with the Tab S2 and the stability during flight mode.

In the past weeks, we have focused on speed and stability. Based on what your share here I have done multiple flight mode tests with our Tab S2. We might have found some instability causes and fixed those in the upcoming version.

However, none seem to be related to using external data from PilotAware or the Stratux instead of internal GPS. Unfortunately in our test setup, we have not been able yet to reproduce those crashes, so we'll keep digging into that. If you can help us with some further contextual information, that would help us a lot:

  • Is [Location updates even when app in background] enabled or disabled?
    [EasyVFR 4 menu] -> [System]
  • Which model PilotAware or Stratux do you have?
  • When the Pilotaware or Stratux are connected which [Location (GPS) Source] are green?
    [EasyVFR 4 menu] -> [System] -> [Location (GPS) Source]
    Sharing a screenshot would be helpful.

  • A screenshot from the [Electronic Conspicuity Settings].
    [EasyVFR 4 menu] -> [System] ->
    image
  • Does the crash also occur when standing still with GPS reception? And when inside without a GPS reception?

Many thanks!

Cheers,
Tim

Hi Tim,

I’ve only just pickup your mail. I have been flying today and EV4 work with NO drop out, I used the internal gps without any other connections (pilotaware). Next time I go, I will connect to pilotaware and make a note of my setting as you have asked.

Hello All,

Went flying yesterday, had no drop out.

Looks like it will be the last flying for some time.

Stay safe and take care
