In the screen layout I have added this function (see screenshot) . During a yesterday flight, this specific field didn't give any frequency in it, but I had a pop up on the screen right down corner with the name and frequency of the next controlled area. So I wonder if this pop up is linked to this function.
Can you confirm or not..?

Good question! I have looked into it and found the ATC frequency info-field at the list to be implemented. So it is correct that it stays empty for now. Will be implemented soon. For now, to see the current position, airspace, and frequency during flight mode, tap the FlightMode button.
The pop-up is part of the warning system: [EasyVFR 4 menu] -> [Alarms and Warnings]. It shows the airspaces name, altitude, frequency and class you are about to enter.
