Hello Aviators!

Version 4.4.1 is an update to 4.3.4, 4.3.9 and 4.4.0 with a few last-minute changes. To be complete the rest of the post is a copy from version 4.3.4

In this update:

FIXED: Version 4.4.0 reset the magnification values on Android devices where logical PPI differs a lot from the physical DPI

FIXED: Memory leak resulting eventually to a crash when downloading NOTAMs when at start of EasyVFR4 a route was still loaded from the previous time EasyVFR4 was used.

From version 4.3.4:

Improvements to Vertical Profile (VP)

A new beta version has seen the light! This version contains a number of fixes and has one major improvement for the Vertical Profile (VP).

Up to now the VPV was sometimes a pain to work with; changing planned altitudes for a leg was troublesome, and often "weird" zig-zag routes where drawn. These problems found their cause in defining a Top of Descend (TOD) location when the descend had to go through multiple waypoints, so we decided to handle climbs and descends different now.

Version 4.3.4 no longer tries to define a TOD spanning multiple legs, instead it leaves it to the user to define achievable crossing altitudes for leg waypoints during the descend. To assist the user in determining if the climb or descend can be realized a leg will now be coloured red when the climb or descend cannot be achieved using the parameters defined for the current aircraft profile.

📝 RELEASE NOTES

All changes in this beta cycle since the last public App Store release:

NEW
  • NEW: When the GPS status is visible in the Instrument ribbon, and EV4 reports a change of GPS source, the information popup will automatically close after 10 seconds and the GPS status indicator will turn amber. To reset this GPS status back to normal, open the Status card to check the new GPS source and then close the Status card.
  • NEW: The info sheet will now automatically close after 30 seconds when EV4 is in flight mode. To prevent this, a new Pin button is available at the top right; when pinned, the info sheet will no longer close automatically.
  • NEW: The AeroData info sheet that opens with a tap on the map will now offer the ability to edit or delete a user-defined waypoint.
IMPROVED
  • IMPROVED: The Radio card now lists "Squawk ATC discretion" instead of only "ATC Discretion."
  • IMPROVED: VP descent and TOD calculations no longer attempt to start a descent more than one leg early if the current leg is not long enough to execute the full climb or descent.
  • IMPROVED: Vertical Profile (VP) now handles changes to planned altitudes by dragging the route line more effectively.
  • IMPROVED: Various VP synchronisation options while in Flying mode. "Re-center Position" now also re-centers the plane position in the VP.
  • IMPROVED: EasyVFR4 is now installable from the Google Play Store on devices without GPS.
  • IMPROVED: The free EasyVFR Essentials version now includes a way to maintain user waypoints.
  • IMPROVED: Improved support for iPad Pro 13" high-resolution devices.
  • IMPROVED: The GPS status indicator is now a default part of the Instrument ribbon.
  • IMPROVED: Dynon Wi-Fi and MGL Wi-Fi flightplan transfer now aligns the buttons vertically instead of horizontally when the device is in portrait mode.
  • IMPROVED: Logbook extraction from Daily Tracklogs.

FIXED

  • FIXED: When assigning Alternate 1 and/or Alternate 2 to a route, the NOTAMs list was not updated. The route had to be saved and reloaded first for the changes to take effect.
  • FIXED: When using two-finger touch to measure distances, the infocard would also pop up showing route objects.
  • FIXED: It was often not possible to scroll to the end of a route in the Route card for routes with many waypoints.
  • FIXED: VFR Reporting Points with a "-" sign in their ID were rendered on the map without that sign.
  • FIXED: When planning a route on a device without location services (mostly Windows devices), EV4 would use the wrong position to calculate magnetic variation for each leg in the route.
  • FIXED: The Vertical Profile (VP) did not always follow the flight track when in flight mode, even when flying the route almost exactly as planned.
  • FIXED: When a route was created using the free-text method and one of the waypoints had a latitude or longitude of 0.000, EV4 would report an error about a missing waypoint.
  • FIXED: When the default unit for latitude and longitude values is changed, the User Waypoint Manager will now use this new default as well.
  • FIXED: Automatic disabling of Flying mode after a flight
  • FIXED: Memory leak when downloading NOTAMs and at startup of EV4 a route was restored from the previous session.

That's a really good news !

I don't come on the forum regularly and didn't see the 4.3.9 released notes.
I was flying yesterday morning with the latest version of EasyVFR4 (check for update the 26 of August and no update at this moment) and I was about to write to you to tell you that it was really complicated to use the VPV, that sometimes it jumped into a view where the camera wasn't present... and that it was a shame that you couldn't recenter like the plan view => now I can't wait to try out the new version.

Thank you.
