This is an excellent idea!

We already have a vertical range filter for traffic. You can find it in the Status card, under "Traffic -> Vertical Range Filter." By default, it filters only in flying mode. However, you can disable "Filter only in Flying mode" to use it in planning mode too.

It's a great suggestion to have the "Hide Airspace At & Above" option from the Map Layers menu also affect traffic. I think this makes perfect sense.

The traffic filter already does what Rob wants. Making the airspace filter filter traffic too has two problems.

1 It's doing something unexpected (filtering something other than what it says it's filtering) so will lead to confusion, and

2. Means you can't see higher traffic while filtering airspace. 

I for one don't filter traffic but do filter airspace. I do it for a reason. I filter airspace above an altitude that I will use on the next flight. However I don't filter traffic because if I'm operating into our around a larger airports what I can do or what I'm asked to do is affected by airliner traffic that is well above me  but descending and moving rapidly. Being able to see it while it's still way above me is useful because it allows me to ask for clearances that I'm more likely to get.

So I certainly wouldn't like traffic filtered when airspace is. It would effectively make airspace filtering useless for me as the price to pay (losing traffic) is be too high for me.

Of you want to fillter traffic, then use the traffic filter.
