SafeSky and EV4 communicate via GDL90. GDL90 is supposed to carry as well 'a' GPS information, so, if activated, the GPS info (although coming from the same device) can go directly via the location service into EV4, or be routed through SafeSky and GDL90. This may sound as a no issue, but it isn't. In case of GSM connection loss, there are cases, where other NAV APPs struggle, because GDL90 may stop providing not only traffic, but also GPS info and the NAV APP warns having lost the position. Therefore my question: If SafeSky is activated, will EV4 take the GPS data directly from the Android location Service and use GDL90 only for traffic, or both?

Hi Hans,

This all depends on your settings in StatusCard (that red/amber/green round button bottom right), [Position] tab. Default EasyVFR4 has "Automatic" enabled. This means it will automatically use the best source available. GDL90 is considered preferable over internal, but if GDL90 indicates it has no 3D accuracy and the Internal reports it *does* have 3D accuracy then easyvfr4 shall (temporary) switch to the location service of the device.

If you have any of the Position source option manually selected instead of Automatic, then loss of that source will result in EasyVFR4 loosing position info too.
