Hello,
I hope I didn't miss a thread about this, but are you working on providing the software for Mac OS Big Sur on Intel? I think a lot of Macs like mine are out there and I would love to use the App for flight planning at home.
Cheers,
Kai.
Hi Kai,
To be honest the latest Big Sur update for MacOS (intel) is giving us big headaches. Due to "under the hood" changes in that version our multi-platform development layer is broken (as happens almost all the time with new MacOS versions; in that regard MacOS really s.cks for us ;-)).
We are already working two months trying to find a work arround, but to be honest it doesn't look good. We haven't found a quick solution yet, meaning the entire graphical subsystem will have to be rewritten, and to be honest the number of MacOS (intel) users of EasyVFr is not enough to make good for that investment within an acceptable timeframe, specially since with the arrival of MacOS ARM (which does run EasyVFR iOS versions perfectly) no significant increase in number of users is to be expected.
So we still have one person dedicated to finding a work around for the upcoming weeks, but to be honest my hopes are tempered, sorry.
oh, no, I had to buy a new Mac before the new chip came out. Now I am stuck with it. Please do not drop the support. I am surprised, that the Arm processor version is so different from the Intel version (but yes, they do replace the graphics system all the time).
Please, please keep trying to make it possible.
Kai.
Hi Rob,
I deeply regret this decision. Indeed, after almost 10 years of subscription, this is a betrayal!
Strange commercial policy!
What do you propose for the loading of the VAC charts for Dynon?
Hi Jean-Paul,
I'm sorry you feel this way, but I think you should be angry at Apple for their lack of backwards compatibility of MacOS. For many years we've kept the MacOS version of EasyVFR adapting for just a small group of users, but it looks like we've hit our limits currently, although we've not yet given up, but it doesn't look good.
VAC charts can be installed using Windows version of EV4 using Parallels.
A second possibility that will soon be available is via our AvionicsData Wireless USB stick (see https://support.easyvfr4.aero/help/dynon-skyview-data-exchange-within-easyvfr-4) using the iOS or Android version of EV4
A third option we're working on (but its still in "proof of concept" phase) is a cooperation with DropBox where an automated system will keep shared directories (each Dynon user will get his own shared dropbox directory) fully up to date with all AeroData, charts and plates for that user. The user can at any convenient time then use Explorer (on windows) or Finder (on MacOS) to copy the files from that shared dropbox directory to his own memorystick for use with the SkyView.
Hello Rob, What's new in this matter?
OK, I tried to use crossover (a tool to emulate windows environment for apps). It comes as far as choosing the language, clicking on the language changes the question accordingly, but it does not move on to the next screen. Any ideas?
Please find a way not to send us away.
Kai.
