In EV3 there was a way of searching for postcodes but it was a little cumbersome - hence I cannot now remember how to do it. Will this be possible in EV4 and is there any way to make it any more intuitive?
Hi Andrew, was there really a search option for postcodes in EV3? I can't remember to be honest, sorry. We did have an easter egg where a user could search using Google address lookups, but that was only known to a very small group of display pilots ;-).
We wish to include a Google address search also in EV4, but just as with the Google maps overlay we have to evaluate current Google license terms first because AFIK these are now only allowed to use with a native Google Maps interface, and not with a "3rd party map" like EasyVFR 🙁

I asked on the old forum about it because heli pilots often get given postcodes to pick up customers. I've just spent 5 mins on EV3 and reminded myself how to do it:

Yeah it would be great to have that again. Yes I think you might be right about Google maps data. Hence loads of websites coming up with "something went wrong" when you load it these days.
Andrew, I edited your post because it referred to the easter egg, and we do not comply to Google's terms with that. Apparently I told you about it existence in the past ;-). We just reviewed their terms and we think we can make EV4 comply to those, so stand by..
@aeroea-changlian Ah ok, so that's the same thing then. I didn't actually realise that could be used to search for more than just a postcode, I never tried that! I used to use the postcode search and then load the satellite view tile. Then zoom back in and open the same thing in Google earth and then cross reference the low res sat image on EV3 with the google earth image to work out exactly where to put the waypoint. Hence also being really keen on having high res sat imagery on EV4!
Yeah it would be really handy if it is possible.
