You have established a 1NM circle around every airport for a detailed ground view.
This only makes sense, if you label the taxiways, fuelservice, tower etc. The circles are taking up memory and have not much benefit without this.
This is exactly what we aim to achieve in the end. The road to get there requires babysteps, but we will get there eventually.
Isn’t that the point of georeferenced plates? Are you in danger of reinventing the wheel or is the intention to make geo referenced plates redundant?
There is some “reinvention of the wheel” happening indeed, but we think its worthwhile. In essense only France has a perfect system: Approach plates free of charge for almost every registered airfield.
For a few countries (UK, Germany, Swiss) commercial Approach plates are available (some at a significant cost) and even then often not covering the smaller airfields either.
But most other countries only have approachplate material for airfields that are in the AIP, mostly larger -airport of entry- airfields.
All in all in europe alone there are hundreds of airfields without approach plates, for these we want to create a solution. That airfields for which plates already exists are done also does no harm I guess, users have then a choice eventually.
