I currently use PocketFMS to download the EFIS Dataset for my Advanced Flight Systems Panels.
I presume PocketFMS will be deprecated once EasyVFR 4 is launched.
Are you planning to allow a simple download of the EFIS Dataset at some point soon ?
Many thanks
Nigel
Hi Nigel,
Thank you for asking and welcome to the forum!
Actually, we could prepare a future EasyVFR 4 version to be able to replace the current PocketFMS desktop method for the Advanced Flight Systems EFIS.
But that's something for a far, very far distant future because we first need the program to be mature and have so many other whiches. On top of that, we have for some time now a better method for the Dynon SkyView panels. Since AFS works close with Dynon on firmware development we frequently have asked them to prepare their panels for the data structure we have created for Dynon Avionics and other manufactures. AFS has promised to work on that for some time now.
So we still "hope" that they will come around. It might be interesting if you, as a customer, contacts Advanced Flight Systems and asks what the status is on supporting the PocketFMS AeroData systematic as used by Dynon Avionics.
Cheers,
Tim
Hi Tim
Any update on EasyVFR support the export of NavData to AFS Panels ?
Best regards
Nigel
Hi Roger
Thanks for the comprehensive reply and I did indeed consider upgrading to a OS 5 version however I have the AFS 5600EE which has an internal Engine Board and AHRS which is not an option for the OS 5 panel. I would therefore need to buy and install a remote ADAHRS which is quite an upgrade unfortunately.
I will ask Shawn on the forum but I know the answer will be vx17 will only run on OS 5.
Will PocketFMS continue to be available and my only option if this is the case ?
Kind regards
Nigel
Nigel, just a short “don’t tell anybody yet”, but we are trying to get the old pocketfms based dataexport for AFS moved to EasyVFR4 for Windows somewhere this winter. Then datasupply for the older AFS systems will be arround for quite some time still. I can’t make hard promises because devil is always in the details and a lot of other topics are on our todo list, but we sure will try to get it done.
