Tried out EasyVR4 or the first time today and though I've been looking aroung in the settings, I cannot find an option to connect to MSFS2020. I'm running EASYVFR4 on the same computer (W10 Pro) as the Simulator. EasyVR3 is running fine i.c.w. XConn.

I got my MSFS2020 running now after investing some bucks for new hardware. Since things changed a bit, I need to modify xConn. Once I get it working with new FS version, I lett you know.

I now got the old xConn compiled and running with new FS2020. But I'd like to add GDL90 and FLARM protocol as well. That will take some more time

Let me know when you're happy with NMEA only. Then I need your mail address to send you the simple version

Thanks for your reply and efforts to make things work and yes I would be very happy with just NMEA (at least for now ?)

Hello Peter,

sorry, but I have to delay the MSFS2020 xConn since I found a nasty bug when testing with MSFS2020. As soon as it's resolved, you'll get it.

Have a nice weekend

Hi Ubi,

I was wondering how the development goes about the connection between FS2020 and EasyVFR. I am quite interested too.

Hi al,

Our friend Ubi created a connector tool for MFFS202.

I have tested the new xConn myself on windows 11 and it works perfectly. Just unzip the folder and start the .exe file. When the OS warns for an unsafe file, just allow to launch it anyway.
  • By default, the correct port 43211 for EasyVFR 4 is set.
  • The default IP address 127.0.0.1 is for broadcasting within the same device.
  • If you like to receive xConnn data on another device like a tablet or phone in the same network, enter the IP address of the network where both xConn(with msfs2020) and the other device are connected to. Typically the IP address of your modem where you change the digits after the third dot.
    • You can broadcast to a specific device by looking up the digits after the third dot of the IP address of that device. For example 126.129.1.3
    • Or broadcasting to everyone in the network by setting the last digits to.255 For example 126.129.1.255
The current version is for positional data only. There are some ideas for a final version with much more features like GDL90, FLARM, traffic from FS2020 etc.

Cheers,
Tim

Dear Tim

Because I am a bit of a digibetic a step by step instruction for connecting Easy vfr to msfs2020 would be appreciated. I tried it, following your text, but I didn't succeed to get it on my Android tablet. I downloaded the tool on both the pc and the tablet. Do I have to import Easyvfr in community folder of msfs2020.as well. Your tool is already imported. I know that there is a way to do so, because it was the same with Vfr map. Unfortunatelly I forgot how I did that.

It would be a great solution to get Easyvfr on a second screen.

Sorry to bother you but please help

Keep up the good work

Kind greetings

Leo

P.S. if you are Dutch a reply in this language will be much more easier.

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to drop in and share some cool stuff we've been working on with Ubi Sumus and EasyVFR 4.

New Tool: FSConny for MSFS2020
We've got this new tool called FSConny. It makes EasyVFR 4 work better with MSFS2020. The coolest part? You can now see the traffic from MSFS2020 right in EasyVFR 4. It’s pretty neat and makes things feel more real.

Updates for All Simulators
And it’s not only for MSFS2020. We’ve improved EasyVFR 4 for all the simulators we support. We wanted to make your sim flying smoother and more fun.

Youtube Video

We also made a video to show you how to use your simulator to act like a GPS for EasyVFR 4. It’s handy for practicing real flights or just flying in the sim. You should definitely check it out.

Documentation and Downloads
All the info, downloads for FSConny, and the video are over at https://easyvfr4.aero/sim .

Hope you enjoy these updates as much as we do. Happy flying and happy holidays!

Cheers,
Tim

Hi,

I just subscribed to EasyVFR yesterday. And I tried to connect to MSFS2020 with FSConny. But this does not work for me. Everey few seconds, it loose the GPS-Signal of the MSFS and and switches back to the Signal of the iPad. This occurs also, when I stop the built in GPS of the tablet.

For me only the old tool xConn works at the moment, but I do not know, whether also the traffic works.

Is it possible, that the new tool does not work under all circumstances?

Thanks, Manuel

Hi Manuel,

We have noticed that on some Windows 11 installations, the Windows Firewall is blocking the connections between the tool and MSFS2020. To resolve this issue on my PC, I removed the firewall rules for flightsimulator. After restarting MSFS2020, I received a prompt asking if I wanted to allow access to this app for both public and private networks. This is what I did:

Step 1 - To remove flightsimulator.exe rules, please follow these steps: Go to Windows Defender Firewall -> Advanced Security settings -> Inbound Rules. Select the rules that are named "flightsimulator" or "flightsimulator.exe" and delete them.

image

Step 2 - To allow access for both private and public networks, restart MSFS2020. When you receive the prompt, click on "Show more" and select both options, then press "Allow".

The firewall rules may reappear, but they should now be properly set up and not interfere with FSConny.

Does this workaround work for you?

We are investigating why the previous version is not affected while this new one is.

Cheers,
Tim

Hi Manuel,

you can also check the output of fsconny in it's output window. If it shows continuous data, then the cause is beyond fsconny, e.g. a firewall as Tim wrote above.

From the feedback I have received so far, the tool works reliably if the connection is ok.

Hi to both of you.

Now in the evening I had the chance to try this again.

I tried this with the firewall yesterday, but I did it again - and now it seems that it works fine.

Thanks a lot for your help!

Hello John

for a brief test go offline, disable the firewall completely and check again.

Hi,

What exactly is the Issue? Is FSConny unable to connect to MSFS2020 or is no data sent to EV4? Are all three programs installed on the same computer? What Windows Version is used? Provide as many details as possible.

No data is sent from FSConney. It connects to MSFS but no position info is displayed in FSConney. GPS coordinates are all zero on the attitude indicator screen. All on same PC, Windows 10. EasyVFR4 receives no info.

Great, when connectedt, it's not a firewall issue. Start a flight an check if the coordinates still stay zero.

Hi,

I have just observed the same thing when FSConny is connected to the sim before a flight is fully loaded. To solve the problem you just have to disconnect FSConny and reconnect it. Then the correct coordinates are displayed and sent to EV4.

Looks like MS has changed the loading sequence in the sim. I'll look into it.

Build 1.36.2.0.

Lots of Aircraft and Garmin750 in the community folder. I removed these. No change.

No other issues in sim.

I'm not able to replicate the issue in my environment and I no longer have a Windows 10 PC. So far no one else reported this problem. We should not spam this forum. So let's continue further analysis by mail. You'll find my mail address in FSConny about box (INF button).

Set departure to EGLL (Heathrow) runway 27R and create a MSFS state report. It's in general options -> experimental. Once the report is created, ZIP it and send it to me by mail. Please confirm you're using FSConny V0.1.2

Ah, i have found it only fails with helicopters (Default and 3rd party). I have always been using them. For your report i used a fix wing and it worked. But i only fly Rotary 🙁
