Hi all!

With EasyVFR 4 we removed the exit button for Android and iOS since it is not needed from a performance stand-point and is against Google's and Apple's design policy.

Simply put EasyVFR 4 in the background, it will go into "hibernate". When Android or iOS need memory that EeasyVFR holds, then EV4 will gracefully end in the background.
When in the background, EasyVFR 4 will not use any data, battery power or CPU capacity. Only when you are in flight mode and background location tracking is enabled, it will consume a little bit of battery power to track your position. In that case, you will always see a notification.

The good thing about leaving an app in the background instead o closing is that it is much faster available again when you do need it.

If you do want to close EasyVFR 4 you can use the native app closing method of your OS. Just like any camera, email, news or car navigation app you have on your device. Instructions are listed below.

If you have any question about this, don't hesitate to reply in the comments below or to email to team@easyvfr4.aero.

Cheers,
Tim

How to close an app, like EasyVFR 4, on my device?

iOS/iPadOS
Doubled tap the home button or swipe upwards from the bottom of the screen to show all hibernated apps. Then swipe the app you want to close up.

Apple describes at their website how this works in detail for all different devices. Including an instructional animation. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201330

Android
  • Close one app: Swipe up from the bottom, hold, then let go. Swipe up on the app.
  • Close all apps: Swipe up from the bottom, hold, then let go. Swipe from left to right. On the left, tap Clear all.
  • Find your Home screen: Tap Home  or Home .

Tip: Even if you don't close apps, you won't run out of memory or battery. Android manages these automatically.

Android 10 and up: Swipe up to see all open apps. Then swipe the app you want to close up.

Older Androids: Tap the navigation bar icon to see all open apps (square or stacked squares). Then swipe the app you want to close up.

Windows and macOS
Both can use the closing (X) button on the top right (windows) and top left (macOS) of the window. Or navigate within EasyVFR 4 to EasyVFR 4 Menu- > General -> Exit Application (bottom button on that screen).

Hello, I would like to have EXIT button on Android as well. I was testing EV4 and needed to close it many times in order to erase UDP and TCP buffers. When I kill EV4 as suggested sometimes settings get corrupted and EV4 restarts with factory settings. Very bad...

Thank you Tim,

I was tired of "proofing" what I had experienced, so I didn't post a screenshot. I was however convinced that the issue would be recognized sooner or later. Thank you for your explanation.

As we can currently not fly due to a Corona-related decision of the club-board, it was finally not important.

Concerning the exit button: I don't mind whether or not there is such a button. As long as this is not a bug on my tablet, it's ok for me.

But as Jan has described, it might be useful in some situations.
