It would be interesting, in the event of an engine failure, to be able to press an "emergency" button which would select the nearest aerodrome and the trajectory to arrive there, according to the specific characteristics of each aircraft.
?? If you have an engine failure, you want to land at ANY field. Not only the suitable ones.
OK. Maybe this is a bad idea ??? Nevertheless, some applications develop this type of emergency functionality (choice of the nearest airport, heading, speed, altitude,...) depending on the characteristics of the aircraft.
Without going as far as the automatic landing of the aircraft as the developed GARMIN, it is always safer to land, when possible, on a real runway, rather than in a field.
This can relieve the already significant stress of engine failure.
