We used to be able to edit the columns in the route PLOG. (in EV3) to customise it to make it most appropriate and remove unused data (e.g cEET and ETO for us)

Can we still do this in EV4?

Andrew, we used to get quite a few complaints that EV3 had too many options and was therefore too difficult to use, so in EV4 we have had a deliberate policy of not offering some of the flexibilities and customisations that were embedded in EV3; unfortunately this (currently, at least) is one of those areas!

Ah fair enough. I can see that point although personally the masses of customisation is what made EasyVFR stand above the competitors.

PartFCL (and therefore also UK.FCL) now includes moving maps in the PPL syllabus and so it would be nice to make the EV4 PLOG match the same format as the rest of the training system such that it can then be used for planning and we can do away with the whizz-wheel completely

But I realise that most users are not instructors or students.

Thanks Andrew. Though the majority of our customers are not instructors or students, we were all students once! And actually we value both students and instructors VERY highly - that is why we offer a free 12-month subscription to any student who has flown solo, and also continuing free subscriptions to any Instructor who promotes EasyVFR to his students. So facilitating the use of EasyVFR for students is a really significant issue for us, and if you can provide clear advice on how best to align the EasyVFR format to match what the training system requires under Part FCL that would be very welcome input.

The common theory (for A and H) simply states "Use of the navigational computer" but doesn't say which one! And then lists speed, time, distance, fuel use, conversions, air speed, wind velocity, true altitude. (FCL.215-9).

For helis, the flying element is in AMC2 FCL.210 (d)2 Ex25a and 25c. and the only items specifically mentioned there are to calculate mag headings, times en-route and fuel consumption. And also the GNSS section which covers its basic use.

In the UK, most schools seem to have adopted the Pooleys or AFE flight logs, or their own version of this which often adds the fuel to the end columns rather than having the times (since we are very rarely departing at the exact time we planned!)

Obviously every school teaches it differently and some may just use exactly what you have as default on EV4. It's not wrong. It's just handy to make EV4 match the paper version that the school teaches on as it makes seamless integration between the GNSS and the paper versions.
