Some notes on today's update

Android 11 performance issues fixed!
Most importantly with this beta version, the Android 11 issues are solved with this new beta version. EasyVFR 4.0.870 now even runs faster on Android 11 than on previous Android versions. Older Android version also could notice a slight performance increase. Opening PDF's with Android 11 is yet, work in progress.

If you have a device that runs Android 11 or older, please let us know below in the comments if you notice the improvement.

PDF viewer within EasyVFR 4 (iOS and Windows only)
Viewing airport plates and documents as PDF and sharing them is now possible within EasyVFR 4 for Windows and iOS. This results in much better readability and usability. Android and macOS are using your external PDF reader. This is the first test of s build-in PDf reader within EasyVFR 4. So more iterations are expected. If you find any issues or have a suggestion, feel free to write them in the comments below.

Open PDF from the Airfield summery bar. Select Plate -> Tap PDF.

Open PDF from the Airfield Quick info window. Tap the PDF documents name.

Release notes

• NEW: When a georeferenced approach plate is selected then when the summary window is activated a [PDF] button is available to quickly open the corresponding PDF
• NEW: On iOS and windows, when activating a PDF from the AirfieldInfo window (accessible for example through the QuickWheel or Presets A/B when a route is loaded) the PDF will be shown within EasyVFR4 instead of asking the user to select which PDF app he/she wishes to use.
• IMPROVED: Performance on all Android's has slightly improved.
• FIXED: Slow performance on devices upgraded to Android 11 has been solved. Android 11 is now even faster than the previous versions.
• FIXED: Sometimes during very specific conditions while route planning the AirspaceHide filter minimum altitude was set to zero (0) causing all airspaces to disappear from the map.
• FIXED: EasyVFR 4 menu->my Userwaypoints did not scroll enough to make it possible to edit the last items on the list
• FIXED: Removed Billing permission from android manifest
• FIXED: Memory leak on windows, Android and MacOS

Android 11 and macOS Big Sur
The issue with Android 11 seems to be solved. Please share any issue you encounter. macOS Big Sur is not supported.

• Minimum requirements:
  • 64-bit and 2GB RAM. Effectively:
    • iPad Air 2 and higher.
    • iPad Mini 4 and higher.
    • iPhone 6S and higher.
  • The iPad Mini 5 and iPad Pro perform extremely well.

• IMPORTANT
  
  • Devices with the old 32-bit Android OS are not supported
• Minimum requirements:
  • 64-bit, +3GB RAM. Android 7.0 and higher is advised.
  • Android 11 is not yet stable.
• We have good results with:

  • Xiaomi Mi Pad 4.
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 and S6.

  • To install you must enable the option: "Allow the installation of apps from sources other than Play store" in Android Settings, Lock screen and Security. Some Android devices require to tap&hold the link below, then choose [Download link] to store the APK on your device from where you then can install this downloaded APK.

• IMPORTANT:
  • Apple macOS (Runs up to Catalina, Big Sur is NOT supported!).
• Minimum requirements:
  • Most 64-bit macOS versions. E.g. High Sierra, Mojave, Catalina.
  • Anything with the new M1 chipset (beta).

• Installation instructions:
  • After downloading the DMG, open it and drag the EasyVFR 4 icon into the Applications folder. EasyVFR 4 is now available via Launchpad.
  • When you get the message "EasyVFR4.app can’t be opened because it was not downloaded from the App Store" choose [Open in Finder] from that popup, then right-click on EasyVFR4.app and choose open. Now the same popup will appear, now with a [Open] button.
  • From there on you can launch EasyVFR 4 from the launchpad without this warning.
